Hurun Philanthropy List: According to Edelgive Hurun India Philanthropy, in terms of donations, Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL Technologies, has retained his top position. Wipro’s Azim Premji is in second place. Mukesh Ambani is the third biggest philanthropist in the country. Kumar Mangalam Birla is in fourth place and Gautam Adani is in fifth place.
The Bajaj family has reached the sixth position in terms of donations. Vedanta’s Anil Agarwal, Infosys co-founders Nandan and Rohini Nilekani, and Serum Institute of India’s Cyrus, and Adar Poonawala are the other names in the top 10 Hurun Philanthropy List.
The number of donors increased
Over the last five years, the number of donors contributing more than Rs 100 crore has increased from 2 to 14. The number of donors contributing more than Rs 50 crore has increased from 5 to 24. According to the report, the top 10 donors donated a total of Rs 5,806 crore in FY 2023, while the total donation in FY 2022 was Rs 3,034 crore.
How many rupees did Indian philanthropists donate?
As per Hurun Philanthropy List, Billionaire Shiv Nadar has donated Rs 2042 crore. Nadar topped the rankings for the third time in five years. Azim Premji is second on the list with a donation of Rs 1774 crore. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani donated Rs 285 crore. Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Kumar Mangalam Birla have donated Rs 376 crore and Rs 287 crore respectively.
