UPS (United Parcel Service) launches its first Technology Center in Chennai

American Multinational shipping and logistics firm UPS (United Parcel Service) inaugurated its technology center in Chennai. The UPS center is the company’s first such facility in India.

The new facility focuses on innovations that make it easier for its customers to do business. It is spread over 51,000 square feet and is led by Subramani Ramakrishnan, vice president and chief digital and technology officer, UPS Technology Centers in India.

Bala Subramaniam said, “These centers will enable us to provide an unparalleled logistics experience for our customers through advanced technologies including AI, automation and robotics.”

Earlier this year, UPS said it was making a strategic investment of US$15-20 million in India to complement its existing technology teams in the US and Europe. They have hired 100 people in India for the facility and plans, and will add 350 more by the end of the year. The company is looking to increase its workforce to 1,000 across the country by 2025.

United Parcel Service (UPS) is an American shipping and supply chain management company. It is one of the largest courier companies in the world by revenue.
